Planning a Trip to Niagara Falls? Here Are 4 Tips to Make Your Trip Great

Canadians and Americans alike, travel hundreds, even thousands of miles to see the majestic beauty of Niagara Falls. It doesn’t matter if it is summer, winter, spring, or fall, the draw here is year-round. From the stunning waterfalls to hiking to indoor water-parks, Niagara Falls has something for everyone all year-long. If you too are traveling to Niagara Falls and you are looking to make the most out of your next trip, check out the following four tips.

Where to Stay

There are several great hotels in Niagara Falls to stay in on your next visit. However, where you choose to stay depends on what you are looking for in a hotel. If you are looking for a hotel with a fabulous view of the falls, try staying at the Niagara Falls Marriott Gateway on the Falls. Not only do guests here sit in awe of the views but they enjoy the multitude of lavish luxuries, including a day spa.

What to Wear

There are two things you have to decide before you plan on packing for your trip to Niagara Falls; what season are you traveling, and how close do you plan on getting to the falls? During the summer months, you will want to pack lightweight clothing that repels water and a pair of comfortable shoes.

During the winter, the temperatures are freezing, and the spray from the falls makes it even colder. With that in mind pack warm winter coats, sweaters, and pants that repel water; bring gloves and hats as well. Additionally if you plan on taking a tour that involves a ride on the Maid of Mist, be sure to pack a poncho to protect yourself from getting wet.

How Currency Exchange Works

Although things cost more in Canada than they do in the United States, the value of the American dollar and the Canadian dollar are similar. However, you should use Canadian currency while staying in Niagara Falls. You can do this by using your credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, or you can exchange your money at a currency exchange center or local bank.

Local banks will charge a larger fee for non-customer transactions and are only open five days a week, whereas currency exchange centers are open seven days a week and exchange funds for a fee as low as $1.

Best Tour to Take

There are several tours that you can take in Niagara Falls, including visitors favorite: the Maid of Mist boat tour. However, if you are traveling from Toronto and want to spend the day exploring Niagara Falls, check into the one day Niagara Falls Tour. A tour guide will pick you up from your Toronto hotel, take you on a tour of the falls, which includes a helicopter ride (at an additional cost) and a stop at a local winery. You also receive lunch and much more information than if you were to visit the falls on your own.

Niagara Falls, Ontario is an outstanding place to visit year-round. Hopefully, this information helps you plan a great trip to Niagara Falls.

Have you been to Niagara Falls, Ontario? If so, do you have any other tips to make a trip to Niagara Falls great?
